MINNESOTA’N’ICE
(IT COULD BE WORSE!)
A Musical Comedy
You won't want to miss "Minnesota'N'ice (It Could Be Worse!)", an original musical/comedy written by locals Gerry and Carol Larson and Judy Sellner, premiering June 3, 4, 5, & 6, 2010 in New Ulm at the Community Center.
Most of the scenes are on the ice where four college students and their professor are attempting to fish. You see the students need just one more credit in order to get their degrees and the professor needs to prove himself a successful ice fisherman so that.......well, you'll just have to come to the play to find that out. Needless to say the three older (shall we say 'seniors'?) fishing next to them don't think the students are up to par with their talents and expertise.
Some of the top hits from the play include: "It Aint So Neat When You're Frozen to the Seat", "I'd Rather Be A Singer Than Up There On A Stringer" (yea, there's a singing fish),
"The Fisherman's Rap" and, of course, the plays' theme "Minnesota Nice". Some other musical titles are: "It Could Be Worse", "White Clover Waltz", "Minnesota Stew Glue", and "Northern Lights". Of course in the end all conflicts are resolved and the full cast sings a Gospel version called "When The World Works Together As One".
Gary Sassenberg, choreographer, is ready to go with the Samba for the opening number; Gerry & Carol are ready with the orchestration; Judy Sellner, director, is chomping at the bit to see this pulled together on the stage; and the cast is saying "We're going to do what????"
